Digital work that Bill Bernbach would have been proud of

Part I

I mentioned in yesterday’s exchange with Mike Coulter that I thought we might be on the verge of great digital work, now that the technology (in one form or another) has been around for more than a decade. I think this YouTube video, created by my friend Peter Zapf of Flow Creative now HSR B2B, and viewed over 300,000 times, exemplifies what great digital work might be.

It is a great TV ad: from the music to the casting to the writing—Twister!?–to the schlumpy rommate details to the acting, this is hilarious, yet completely on message.

But it also uses the unique freedom presented by YouTube to develop short films, unconstrained by the traditional :30 or :60 time frames.

The trade-off: it needs to be so interesting that you seek it out and share it with your friends.
